We at (Layered) love to travel and staying in an Airbnb can add to the experience of being somewhere new. More often than not we see these drab lifeless spaces listed for rent. Who wants to stay there? An Airbnb should be an extension of your personality (like your clothes)- it doesn’t have to be beige and boring, in-fact use color to draw potential renters into your listing!

This time of year is always our favorite, as it is baseball season! We both grew up watching the Astros in the Dome following them to their new home at Minute Maid Park. We were lucky enough to have the day off and experience opening day for the first time in both our lives.
We are such big fans of the Astros we even bring them into our interior decor. Take a look at our original Dome chairs styled two different ways.

Spring is here and it is time to update those patios. See how and why we changed this
Our client wished to see the Houston skyline while sitting down on his amazing rooftop patio, so the first thing we did was raise the floor by using Ipe deck tiles. Not only did it help with his requirement but the wood deck tiles brought warmth to an otherwise basic concrete floor.
We added furniture as an extension of his interior space
Added plants to create a relaxing environment
Added textiles for comfort and visual interest
a few accessories
If you have been paying attention to our blog over the past week or so you may have noticed a change. It's a new year and a new us!
Lyrd (pronounced layered) Interiors
As we have grown, Shellie and I felt it was time for our company to grow and change as well. Lyrd Interiors will still have our same style and eye of curated spaces, just a new name and a new look.
This Danish concept has been making its way in the states and it’s definitely a lifestyle concept we should all embrace for the new year.
Hygge doesn’t directly translate in English but it’s the feeling of coziness. It’s having a cup of coffee in a cute cafe with good conversation. It’s about contentment, comfort, and connection, creating a sanctuary in everyday life.
So forget all the design rules and curate a unique space to bring enjoyment to your life!
Flora and fauna

Bold floral patterns add interest, warmth, and make statement.
You can also use furnishings and fixtures to evoke a paradise.
